Biophilic Journeys: Music from Nature for Inner Calm

Biophilic Journeys: Music from Nature for Inner Calm

What does the term Biophilia mean?
Biophilia is the natural tendency of humans to feel a connection and love for nature and other forms of life.

During the workshop, participants will experience nature as a composer and themselves as part of the creation.
The fungi and plants translate their electrical signals into live music through feedback sensors and a modular synthesizer. The experience is dynamic and ever-changing, incorporating authentic field recordings of water, birds, and wind.
Each session is unique and singular - pure flow where sounds are born and disappear like a wave. A transformative experience that allows for a deep connection to ourselves, listening to the language of nature, and a moment of shared experience without words.

Tom Iddan

Tom Iddan

Musician, producer and sound designer who explores the border between music and sound. With an attraction to sounds from ancient traditions along with a love for synthesis, Tom creates a dialogue between the new and the old, between ancient wisdom and modern tools and takes his inspiration from the sounds of nature.

Musician and sound designer exploring the intersection of nature, technology, and culture. His work is rooted in a deep background in ethnic music, including tabla studies in India with traditional masters, and evolves through analog instruments, modular synthesis, and contemporary generative sound.

Tom has performed around the world and at major festivals in the country with various ensembles and with Bio Music workshops.

A graduate of the SAE Institute School of audio engineering and sound design in London, he served as Head of SFX at Artlist, where he led the field of sound effects and created content for millions of users worldwide.

Tom delves into the relationship between sound, nature, and consciousness – understanding that these realms hold keys to healing, listening, and transformation.

"I felt like I was opening my eyes through my ears.

A feeling that I can see, listening to the intricate world of the mycelium.

During the session with my eyes closed, I dived into the house of the mushrooms in the forest without a sense of space and time."

Shimerit, an educator

"An experience that changed the way I understand my connection to nature. The music created from the plants was so authentic and calming - it's like hearing the very soul of nature itself."

Matan, software engineer

In the sessions, the atmosphere is calming, soothing, and full of good energy. Tom, in his unique way, creates a magical space that feels just like a hug for the soul.
